Objectivity in England? Manchester City lead the league by 10 points, but don’t have a single player in the best squad according to fans
Manchester City are doing very well in the Premier League so far this season, after 21 rounds played they have a ten point lead over second placed Chelsea and it seems that the title could be decided. It is all the more surprising that the fans have not included a single Citizens player in the best squad of this season.

The BBC lets football fans rate the performances of individual players in every Premier League match. Now, the best line-up of the season so far has been released, which is made up just according to the fans’ ratings.
One might expect Manchester City players to be heavily represented in this eleven, as they lead the league by 10 points, to which they have also scored the most goals, while conceding the fewest of them all.
Moreover, goalkeeper Ederson has already kept 11 clean sheets, so he has the most in the league. For a change, Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Rodri reign supreme in the number of completed passes. But clearly it’s not enough.
The Citizens don’t have a single player in their best eleven so far this season.
So what does the BBC fans’ best eleven look like? Between the three sticks we find Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale putting in a great performance and being duly rewarded for it. He has 9 clean sheets.
The defence is made up of two Brighton players, namely right-back Tariq Lamptey and stopper Shane Duffy, complemented by Liverpool stars Virgil Van Dijk and Andy Robertson.
The midfield trio consists of Crystal Palace, West Ham and Chelsea players. However, you could say that Chelsea have two players here. Conor Gallagher is on loan at Crystal Palace just from Stamford Bridge. West Ham are represented by Declan Rice, the other Blues player is N’Golo Kante.
The attacking trio consists of Mohamed Salah (Liverpool), Michail Antonio (West Ham) and Kai Havertz (Chelsea).
It’s certainly not a bad line-up, but the absence of any Manchester City player is hard to fathom.
