Thirty-one-year-old defender Filip Novak has had a bad season in Fenerbahce Istanbul. Despite the fact that he still has a two-year contract in Istanbul, he will probably move in the summer. Turkish club Göztepe is interested in his services.
Filip Novak signed for Turkish Fenerbahce Istanbul as a free agent a year ago. He came to the club with a good reputation that he built up in Trabzonspor. In Istanbul, however, he was unable to build on his good performances from his previous engagement.
Last season, he appeared in 20 competitive matches in which he scored one goal. From a personal point of view, it was his worst season in his career, which was affected by health problems or sitting on the substitutes’ bench.
Because of that he lost his nomination for the European Championship, where Aleš Matějů from the second league Brescia got a chance instead. The Fenerbahce management was not satisfied with last season as they finished third behind rivals Besiktas and Galatasaray.
In the summer, the Istanbul-based side will want to strengthen its squad, which will mean some departures from the club. And this should also apply to the Czech defender, who unfortunately did not convince.
According to the Fanatik website, the biggest bidder for Novak’s services is Turkish Göztepe. According to Turkish media, the agreement between the clubs is very close. Together with Novak, Turkish striker Sinan Gümüş is also expected to join the Izmir club.
