Nottingham vs. Sheffield: preview and betting tips
Both Nottingham and Sheffield failed to convince in the first round, losing to London teams. Many pre-season predicted both teams to fight for relegation and the opening round proved them right. So the game will be very important. What to expect from the match between this year’s and last year’s newcomer and what to bet on?

Nottingham saved themselves quite easily last year, stabilized the unplayed squad and did not enter the new season badly either. Playing Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium to the last seconds for a point, the Gunners players were much relieved after the end of the game, even though they clearly dominated the game – 79% ball possession.
Sheffield are back among the elite after three years and will be one of the biggest underdogs in the competition. They fell to Crystal Palace at home to open the season, plus midfield mainstay Sander Berge left in the week.
Nottingham’s key figures
The home side are relying on Morgan Gibbs-White, the England midfielder was instrumental in Albion’s success at the Under-21 Euros. Taiwo Awoniy hit from the top of the attack in the first round, his stocky build will come in handy.
Sheffield’s key figures
The visitors introduced new signing Tom Davies in the week, the central midfielder has Premier League experience through Everton. He should be kept company by Oliver Norwood, the Northern Irish international is a bit more offensive.
Prediction
Nottingham have tuned up their defence in the build-up, conceding one goal or less in two of their last four games. Overall in the second half of last season, they improved their defensive performance significantly.
Sheffield, on the other hand, have not been in good form since preparation, winning only two of their last six games. They lost to Sparta Rotterdam and Girona, and got a three-pointer from Stuttgart, who were struggling in the Bundesliga last season.
Considering Nottingham’s improved defence, on the other hand, Sheffield’s poor form and overall preparation, and the fact that the visitors are recovering from the departure of their mainstay, I expect the home side to win.
