Tuesday’s Premier League schedule features a clash between Norwich and Aston Villa. Both teams have performed better in the first part of the season, but the home side are last in the table, the visitors are only thirteenth. What to expect from the match?
Norwich have picked themselves up after a miserable start to the season and haven’t lost once in November under new coach Dean Smith. However, they remain last in the table, three points behind seventeenth-placed Watford.
It is Aston Villa who are Dean Smith’s last club, much loved by the fans there, but now they can’t complain about Steven Gerrard either. The club has pulled up from sixteenth place to thirteenth, just three points behind eighth placed Leicester.
Like last year and the year before, Norwich rely on goals from Teemu Pukki, the Finnish sniper has made five league appearances so far this season. Central midfielder Mathias Normann (1+1), who is on loan from Rostov, is also performing well.
The visitors have one of the most underrated players in the Premier League, the combative John McGinn boasts a 3+2 record. The highly experienced Ashley Young is also getting into form, assisting two goals in November.
Although Norwich can leave the relegation zone if they win, their record is appalling. The goal difference of -24 is clearly the worst in the whole league, the second worst is Newcastle with -17.
Aston Villa have scored twenty-one goals, but given the cost of summer reinforcements, perhaps more was expected. However, things are better under Gerrard, with the Villans scoring at least two goals in three of their last five games.
Given Villa’s rising form under Gerrard, I recommend backing Aston Villa in a no draw bet. This means that in the event of a draw, you will get your stake back.
