11 games, 5 points with little chance of salvation. The Norwich management decided to end the cooperation with Daniel Farke early. The reason for the dismissal is the unsatisfactory results, due to which the Canaries are in last place in the table. The club’s decision was not changed by today’s win over Brentford, which ended a 10-match winless streak.
The German coach’s departure from Norwich was decided after today’s 2-1 win over Brentford. The league newcomer notched his first win of the season. However, they remain in last place and are six points behind the position guaranteeing their stay in the Premier League.
Along with Farke, other members of the coaching staff – Eddie Riemer, Christopher John and Chris Domogalla – have also left the club.
“Given thatwe continue to demand only the best for our football club, this decision was not an easy one. We know how determined Daniel and his team were to succeed at this level. But we also feel that now is the perfect time to make a change to give us the best opportunity to stay in the Premier League.
All our supporters should be forever grateful to Daniel and his staff for the important role they have played at our club. They have helped us win two Championship titles, return to the Premier League twice, and brought us many memorable moments. They allfit perfectly into our philosophy and understood what it means to be part of our football club,” said Norwich’s Sporting Director Stuart Webber.
Norwich picked up their first win of the season, unexpectedly beating Brentford 2-1 to take the Canaries to 19th. Newcastle. But their chances of survival are still minimal.
“We’ve finally done it, it’s been a long wait. It’s great to finally get a win after a tough start to the season. It’s important for the confidence of the players and for the mental well-being of the whole team.
The confidence of the team is key for us and let’s be honest, they are all young guys. I think they are the youngest 11 in the whole league so it’s not easy for them. Everybody’s criticising them, so they deserve it. We have a great team spirit.
We won game after game last season but the fans couldn’t celebrate with us so it’s a great celebration for them as well. They must have been very patient. Everyone was determined to bring home three points today,” said former coach Farke of the win over Brentford.
Daniel Farke has coached Norwich since 2017. He has been promoted to the Premier League twice with the team. However, Norwich struggled in England’s top competition and were relegated back to the Championship two years ago.
The German coach’s start to this season was not good either, so his departure was inevitable. Norwich’s next opponent will be Southampton, the match will take place on November 20.
