Manchester United will soon have a new coach. It will be 63-year-old Ralf Rangnick. Nemec’s engagement will be valid until the end of May and from the summer the famous English club will probably have a new manager. A possible summer arrival is Mauricio Pochettino from French Paris Saint-Germain. What other names were in the pool?

After Saturday’s crushing defeat to Watford (Manchester lost 1: 4), the current coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was officially sacked and the club management had to find a replacement.

Why didn’t Pochettino or Zidane come in?

There were several names in play. Zidane, Ten Haag, Pochettino or Rodgers. However, the arrival of none of the aforementioned came to fruition. Zidane turned down the offer, Ten Haag didn’t want to leave during the busy season, Rodgers’ name was more in the realm of speculation.

So the most realistic was the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino from PSG. The Argentine himself has expressed an interest in coaching Manchester United. However, this request was rejected by the PSG management. His release from the club could only happen if a sum of £10 million was paid for his services.

And so, in the end, it came to nothing. The dream deal might happen next summer. Pochettino is reportedly not too happy at PSG. He may be replaced by the aforementioned Zidane, who is very much in demand for a PSG engagement.

Since the bet on Pochettino did not work out, the Red Devils management had to resort to a temporary solution. To get a quality coach who will lead the team only until the end of the current season. The club was deciding between Rangnick, Favre and Valverde. In the end, they settled on the experienced Rangnick.

the 63-year-old German was until now the head of development at Lokomotiv Moscow. He has agreed a six-month contract with Manchester United. After that, he is expected to move into a consultancy role (two-year contract).

He will sign the contract on Monday. His debut on the Manchester United bench will take place in the match against Arsenal.

Rangnick has been particularly successful in the German Bundesliga. As a coach, he worked at Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and Leipzig.

He has also enjoyed great success as a club president, especially through his involvement with Leipzig. Under his leadership, the club fought its way from the 4th league to the elite Bundesliga, and is now one of Europe’s top clubs.
