It is quite common in the world for children to take up combat sports from a young age. But it’s not so “fashionable” here. However, with the growing popularity of MMA, things are starting to change here. Slowly but surely.
One of the pioneers of children’s MMA in our country is Nikolas Novak, a nine-year-old boy who has already fought at the I Am Fighter gala. There is a short documentary about his journey to his first really big fight.
Even at his young age, he is very ambitious and goal-oriented. In addition, his family supports him, which is of course very important. And now he’s about to get a big reward. In November, he will compete in the GAMMA (Global Association of MMA) World International Championships for fighters aged 8 to 17.
“As parents, we of course first consulted with the coaches to try and get Nikolas to fight overseas. It’s an opportunity, but most importantly a huge experience for Niko. And last but not least, an experience,” expressed Nikolas’ mom.
And Nikolas’ reaction to the question if he would even want to wrestle in the USA? “An unequivocal YES. That he would even skip the seaside holiday we had planned during August for this.”
They are all aware that it will be expensive, but nevertheless there is a united determination to attend the event. The talented fighter will prepare under the guidance of Ales Bruna (Star team Most), Reinders team and Artur Omarov.
The championship, in which Nikolas will participate, will take place from November 3 to 6 in Nashville, USA. Girls will wrestle in 15 different weight classes, boys in 23 weight classes.
