Yellow, blue and red. These are the colours that play a major role in the winter version of the official ball for the 2021/2022 season. Since 2000, Nike has held the license for the official Premier League ball after replacing the manufacturer Mitre.
In recent years, the “broadcast” Ordem and Merlin product lines onto the playing surfaces of stadiums of clubs playing the world’s most watched football league, and for the last two years it has been Nike Flight.
During the winter months, when it’s not uncommon for snow to fall on the Islands at match time, a shiny version of the ball is a must-have. It is this fact that the creators were working from when they were working on the ball’s design for the winter months.
How do you like the Nike Hi-Vis Flight ball? Pretty wild, don’t you think? Its design is inspired by the Golden Age comic strip that was published between 1938 and 1956. Fans will be able to see it in action for the first time on Friday during the Southampton and Aston Villa match.
It’s not the first time the manufacturer has introduced a colourfully bold variant. There have been a few since the turn of the millennium, as you can see in the attached post.
Let us know in the discussion if you would like to see just such a ball in our Fortuna::league!
