On Tuesday, we have more matches in the opening round of Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam tournament of the current season. One of the most interesting battles promises to be the match between Nick Kyrgios and Ugo Humbert. Who will be happy to advance?
Nick Kyrgios usually performs very well at Grand Slam tournaments, but he can’t follow it up at smaller tournaments. This is one of the reasons why he is 60th in the ATP rankings.
In 2021, the 26-year-old Australian tennis player appeared in only two tournaments in Melbourne. At the Australian Open, he reached the third round, twice offering spectators a five-set battle.
His opponent in the first round will be Ugo Humbert. The 23-year-old tennis player originally from France currently occupies the 25th place in the ATP rankings, which is also his career high.
After a not so good season on clay, where Ugo Humbert lost six out of seven matches, he had a good season on grass. The young Frenchman even dominated the tournament in Halle, where he defeated Zverev and Rublev.
So what to bet on? The clash between these players promises to be a very exciting match. This will be the third time they have met, and both have one win between them.
Humbert is the slight paper favourite for the match and he has had a good preparation. Kyrgios, on the other hand, hasn’t played a single match in the last four months, so he should lack game practice.
However, we must mention that Wimbledon is Kyrgios’ favourite Grand Slam. In 2014, he even reached the quarterfinals there. So we will see a thrilling battle on Tuesday, which should not end after three sets.
