The Wimbledon semi-finals probably could not have offered a more interesting spectacle. The storming Nick Kyrgios will challenge the most successful tennis player in history, Rafael Nadal, on the most famous tennis court.
Kyrgios has calmed his emotions, steadied his head and finally started to focus on tennis. It was about time, at 27 years old, a player with immense talent and a gift for incredible strokes wasted his talents and went the furthest in a Grand Slam to reach the quarterfinals.
But now his transformation is bearing fruit. He has broken his own record, reaching the semi-finals, knocking out the likes of world number five Stefanos Tsitsipas along the way.
He is playing in the form of his life and is ranked among the favourites to win Wimbledon overall. But now he faces his toughest test, the most successful tennis player in history, Rafael Nadal.
The Spanish warrior has already won 2 Grand Slams this year and is aiming for a third. He has been plagued by injuries at the All England Club and is visibly unwell, yet he has reached the semi-finals.
However, with Nadal finishing the quarterfinals in a lot of pain, not knowing if he will finish the match and not even knowing if he will even enter the semifinals, the bookmakers are favouring Kyrgios.
Considering the quality of both fighters, we can expect a big fight. That’s why I think we’ll see five sets, which is very tempting odds.
