The Champions League semi-final offers two footballing feasts. In the first of the duels, Real Madrid and Manchester City faced each other, while the Milan derby between AC and Inter is yet to take place on Wednesday evening.
Real Madrid and Manchester City awaited a replay of last year’s semi-final, in which the Spanish giant was more successful. Only this year, the Citizens are strengthened by Erling Haaland and he is set to be a major weapon in their quest for the dream trophy.
After all, it was the English team that was the big favourite. Even at the iconic Santiago Bernabeu. The start of the match, in which Pep Guardiola’s charges were more active and more dominant, corresponded to this.
But Manchester City could not take advantage of any of their opportunities and so could only regret it in the 36th minute. Real Madrid shot between the three posts for the first time in the match and scored immediately.
The goal was scored by Vinicius Junior, who is having another great season. In the Champions League, he had six goals and five assists until Tuesday’s game. Now he has improved his record even further.
In total, Vinicius has already scored a fantastic 23 goals this season, to which he has added a fantastic 21 assists.
Los Blancos are proving once again after a year that they definitely don’t need to be the better or more active team in a match. Last year they reached the trophy thanks to their morale and efficiency and they are building on the same foundations this year.
