Panthers forward Sam Reinhart was the top scorer in the NHL last week, while the remaining positions were occupied by excellent goaltenders Martin Jones of Toronto and Connor Hellebuyck of Winnipeg.

Reinhart the NHL Star of the Week

Florida Panthers forward Sam Reinhart played three games last week and was the top scorer with five goals. He collected six points overall. In addition, he scored his first hat trick of the season and the seventh of his career in the win over Las Vegas.

Not only for these performances, he was selected to the All-Star game for the first time in his career. In addition, he is having one of the best seasons of his career. With 50 points in 39 games played, he is currently in the top 10 in the league in scoring and could very well be looking to threaten his 2021/22 season high. Of course, he is the Panthers’ most productive player, with Aleksander Barkov second at seven points back.

The pearl is that his father, Paul Reinhart, also participated in the 1985 and 1989 exhibition All-Star game. This will be the ninth father-son pairing to accomplish this feat in NHL history. Probably the most famous such pairing is the legendary Bobby and Brett Hull.

Toronto goalie Jones second star of the week

Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Martin Jones has played three games and all of them ended in victories. In addition, he recorded fantastic statistics in the form of 0.66 goals scored per game. On top of that, he had a save percentage well above 97 percent (97.6).

He defused 81 shots in that period and only two ended behind his back. He recorded his 30th career clean sheet in the win in Los Angeles and second overall in just seven starts for the Maple Leafs. He has 232 career regular season wins to date and is the eighth best active goaltender in that statistic.

Winnipeg’s Hellebuyck has helped the team to the NHL lead

The third star of the week is once again goaltender, this time of the Winnipeg Jets, Connor Hellebuyck. He also played three games and again they were all winnable. He pushed his goals-against average to 1.68 and his save percentage was 93.7.

In addition, he has 12 consecutive games in which the Jets managed to score points. Of those, 10 were game-winners after 60 minutes. With these great performances, he has helped Winnipeg’s team climb up to the position of the best team in the NHL. He is one of the four goalies this season who have fought at least 20 winning games.
