The NHL has once again announced the three biggest stars of the past week. Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi was voted the best player, followed by Florida’s Montour and Winnipeg’s Morrissey.
Roman Josi
Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi was the most productive defenseman in the period under review. In 3 games played, he accumulated a total of 7 points on 3 goals and 4 assists. He was the most productive player in the entire league and also reigned over the plus/minus stats, where he had a total of 7 plus points.
Thanks to his productive record, the Predators won all three games and extended their winning streak to 8 games in a row. Josi recorded two three-point games in a row against Ottawa and Minnesota. He has 158 career multi-point games, which ranks him third among active defensemen.
Only Pittsburgh’s Kris Letang (164) and Tampa Bay’s Victor Hedman (163) are better. Josi is in his 13th season in the NHL and ranks 6th among active defensemen with 662 points (173 + 489). He has only played 889 games for that many points.
The other star is Brandon Montour
Another player honored is again a quarterback, this time Brandon Montour of the Florida Panthers. He scored one less point than Josi. He also played 3 games, scoring 2 goals and assisting on 4. Montour led the club in scoring last week.
In addition, his two goals were the winning goal each time. The Florida team also won all 3 games and settled for the lead in the NHL. His best game was against Buffalo, where he contributed three points to all of Florida’s goals and recorded his 8th career three-point game.
Another honoree Josh Morrissey
For the third time, the NHL selected a defenseman. This time it is Winnipeg Jets quarterback Josh Morrissey. He played 4 games in the reporting period and scored 7 points for 1 goal and 6 assists. He scored the most points on the team and contributed to three winning games.
Morrissey has accumulated a total of 21 points since January 1 and is the 4th most productive defenseman in the NHL behind Noah Dobson, Roman Josi and Quinn Hughes. His best game was against Carolina, where the Jets turned the game into a win and Morrissey contributed to the turnaround with three assists.
