Neymar is not having a good season after the arrival of his friend Lionel Messi. Like the Argentine star, he is struggling, even more than Messi.
This season, the Brazilian has played 14 competitive games in which he has scored only 3 goals and added 3 assists. And he won’t have a chance to improve his stats for a while.
He didn’t finish the match against Saint-Étienne, leaving the field on a stretcher in the 88th minute after he mis-stepped and injured his ankle badly.
There was great concern that the injury would sideline him for a long time. According to the photos, many expected it to be a several-month layoff. Fortunately, this is not the case.
Examination revealed a sprained left ankle and ligament injuries. Neymar will miss his team for an estimated 6-8 weeks. However, he will still undergo another examination, which will reveal more precisely how long a break the Brazilian will have.
“Unfortunately, it’s part of every athlete’s life. It is necessary to go on with your head held high. I will come back better and stronger,” the 29-year-old technician commented on his injury on Instagram.
PSG will thus have to do without Neymar in league games against Nice, Lens, Monaco and Lorient. Likewise, he will miss the last Champions League group game against Bruges.
He is also unlikely to miss the match against Lyon, which is scheduled for 9 January.
