Steve Bruce is leaving the Newcastle United bench after more than two years. He parted company with the club by mutual consent after being bought out by wealthy owners. In a statement, Newcastle thanked the coach for his contribution and wished him well for the future.

Premier League side Newcastle United received the news on Wednesday lunchtime that Steve Bruce is no longer the club’s coach. This was by mutual consent.

The Magpies are seeing this experienced coach leave after more than two years. The club has recently been bought by wealthy Arab owners who have big plans for the club.

“It’s a club with an incredible fan base and I hope the new owners can get it where it belongs. I wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season and beyond,” Bruce told the club’s website.

The team will be temporarily managed by Graeme Jones, who will be with them for Saturday’s game against Crystal Palace. The club said it is now recruiting for a head coach, which will be announced in due course.

Newcastle concluded by wishing the coach well for the future and thanking him for his contribution to the club.

The 60-year-old coach, who won three league titles with Manchester United during his active coaching career, will now be able to take a break from football for a while, quite possibly never to return.

“I think it was my last job. It’s been really tough. Not being wanted anywhere, feeling that people want you to fail. A lot of people rejoiced at my failures and said I was just a useless fat man,” he told the Telegraph.
