And it’s official! It’s been a long time coming, but now Newcastle United have finally made it official that they have new owners. No club in football has richer owners. What are their ambitions and how do the fans feel about it?

PSG is no longer the richest club on the planet. It has officially been replaced in first place by Newcastle United. Fans are rejoicing at the end of Mike Ashley, who turned a traditional and famous club into a club that was properly destitute.

There had been talk of selling the club for some time, but many obstacles stood in the way. The Premier League also had a few problems with it. But now everything has been resolved and both the Premier League and Newcastle have announced the successful completion of the sale.

Newcastle has been bought by an investment group led by the public investment fund PIF also including PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media.

According to a club statement, the investment group consists of long-term and patient investors who believe in the future success of the club. All parties are expected to benefit from the deal.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan (PIF Governor) will be the non-executive chairman of the club, while PCP Capital Partners’ managing director Amanda Staveley will be appointed to the board.

Al-Rumayyan expressed to the club website his immense pride in owning one of England’s most famous clubs with PIF. In addition, he thanked the fans for their support.

“This is a long-term investment. We are excited about the future prospects of the club. We want to provide the leadership that will enable Newcastle to achieve great success in the long term. Our ambitions are in line with the fans – to create a successful team that competes for major trophies and performs proudly across the world,” added Staveley.

RB Sports & Media representative Jamie Reuben then revealed that Newcastle is a fantastic city in which his family has long invested. It has been a privilege to be part of the club.

His dream is to build a community club based on his knowledge of the city and its people. This is the opposite of what Mike Ashley was trying to achieve.

The social media administrators are obviously happy about the sale as well, as they sent a clear message to the world after the announcement. The underlined word “UNITED” in one of the posts says it all.
