Newcastle are set to sacrifice speedster Saint-Maximin for the sake of financial fair play to acquire Maddison

Leicester can’t be counted on to keep their best player James Maddison in the team when he is facing at least one more year in the Championship. According to The Athletic, the burgeoning Newcastle are the big suitors for the services of the English winger.

Maddison has been highly rated for quite some time now and it was he, in particular, who kept Leicester’s hopes of saving the Premier League alive for a long time. However, that was ultimately not enough and neither were his 10 league goals and 9 assists.

Now, it is expected that Leicester will no longer prevent the 26-year-old midfielder from leaving and so surely the management will be very welcoming of serious suitors. One big admirer of Maddison in particular is coach Eddie Howe, who is rebuilding Newcastle from the ground up.
