Changes have been made in the new edition of the ATP and WTA rankings. The new world number one in the men’s competition is once again Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, who is listed under a neutral flag in the rankings. Four Czechs have also reached their best rankings, including Zdeněk Kolář, who played well at Roland Garros.
After Novak Djokovic fell out with Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, it was clear that Daniil Medvedev would soon become the world number one again. And the currently injured German Alexander Zverev also got ahead of the Serb, for whom this is an improvement on his personal best.
Norway’s Casper Ruud, who is currently ranked 5th, also improved in the top 10. Among the Czechs, both national players improved in the elite 100. Jiri Vesely jumped 5 places to 71st and Jiri Lehecka jumped 2 places to 77th.
The trio of Zdeněk Kolář (111th), Vít Kopřiva (139th) and Dalibor Svrčina (172nd) reached their personal best. On the other hand, Lukáš Rosol continued his decline in the rankings, dropping 9 places to 269th.
There were no big changes in the women’s edition. The only Czech representative in the top 10, Karolina Pliskova, remains in 7th position despite her poor form.
The second best Czech, Barbora Krejcikova, remains in 14th position. Tereza Martincova has improved slightly, jumping to 56th position. The talented Linda Fruhvirtova reached a new career high.
The 17-year-old tennis player jumped 9 places to 175th position. Barbora Palicová and Michaela Bayerlová also rose in the rankings among the young hopefuls.
