The third round of the Euro U21 group stage kicks off on Wednesday. The Netherlands will challenge one of the hosts, with Georgia in very good form this season. What can we expect from this match and what to bet on?
The Netherlands have not been performing as expected at the tournament so far, after drawing with Belgium they also played to a draw against Portugal. They need to win to secure a promotion place, even a draw could theoretically be enough, but that would depend on the second match.
Georgia are in a much better position, having drawn with Belgium after their opening win over Portugal and are first with four points so far. A draw is enough to secure promotion, if they lose to the Dutch they will go through in the event of a draw between Portugal and Belgium.
Key figures for the Netherlands
The home side rely on Crysencia Summerville, the Leeds winger has netted four goals and assisted twice in the Premier League this season. At the tip of the attack, Brian Brobbey rocks, scoring 14 goals and assisting four times in an Ajax jersey.
Georgia’s key figures
The visitors are led by winger Zuriko Davitashvili, he scored six times and assisted five for French second division side Bordeaux. Irakli Azar, who has assisted four goals for Crvena Zvezda Belgrade this season, shines at left-back.
The Netherlands rely on a sophisticated defence, having conceded only twice in their last ten games. In nearly 200 minutes played in the tournament, it has only received a goal from Portugal’s André Almeida.
Georgia’s defence, on the other hand, cannot be described as good. It has kept a clean sheet in only four of its last 14 matches. Last time they got two goals from Belgium and were glad to get at least a draw.
Considering the good defensive performance of the Netherlands, the incomparably inferior defence of the Tulips, and the fact that the Dutch will simply play to win, I think Georgia will fall for the first time in the tournament.
