Neither Schick nor Coufal! Both Lukaku and Walker in the official EURO squad
Two days after the tournament ended, UEFA came up with the official team of the tournament. And the fans are not happy. Pogba, Shaw, even top scorer Ronaldo were left out. They are not happy in our country either, as even Schick’s five-goal parade wasn’t enough for a place in the line-up.

Lukaku over Schick or Ronaldo?
This is the first time in the 21st century that UEFA dared not to include either of the top two scorers in the EURO. Ronaldo has scored five goals in only four games, Schick complemented his exploits with an exhibition goal against Scotland.
However, UEFA still decided to put a single striker in the line-up, which is Romelu Lukaku. He scored two goals for Russia, one for Finland and one for Italy from a penalty. Moreover, with the help of a world-class service in the form of Kevin De Bruyne.
The right-back position, surprisingly for England
Whoscored also gave Czech fans hope for two players in the team of the tournament. It concluded from its statistical analysis that the best right back of the tournament was Vladimír Coufal.
However, this position was occupied by another defender. And it wasn’t the star Maehle or the final goal scorer Shaw, whose left side was occupied by Spinazzola. Kyle Walker, who had failed to record an assist in four games at right back, was selected.
Especially in the group stage his performances were quite unconvincing, but he picked up in the knockout stage and was a key stopper for England especially in the 3-4-3 formation. However, could he have earned a place at the expense of the two-goal Maehle?
The rest of the team was then put together roughly as expected. Chiesa featured on the wings with Sterling, who himself was tempering his individual performances with acting.
The midfield line consisting of the best young player Pedri, who showed 97% passing accuracy in the semi final, Jorginho and a bit surprisingly Höjbjerg.
Instead of him, most fans would rather see Pogba. However, a line-up without a single one of the Danish semi-finalists would not look good either. So maybe Pogba took the rap for leaving out Maehle.
The defensive line then purely in the sign of the finalists. From left, Spinazzola, Bonucci, Maguire and Walker. In goal, clearly Donnarumma – the best player of the whole tournament.
