Nedved criticizes financial fair play! It doesn’t work at all, perhaps UEFA has noticed, he says. Why is his Ballon d’Or in a museum?

Pavel Nedved was a guest at the Turin Book Fair, where Italian journalist Guido Vaciago christened his book La Casa della Juve. He answered several questions from journalists. What did he reveal to the media?

The Juventus vice-president was guest of honour at the launch of the book, which is about Juventus’ home. He faced questions from journalists, which allowed football fans to learn something new.

For example, Pavel Nedved spoke about his relationship with Juventus: “I’ve been here for 20 years, I’m a foreigner who is treated like one of the family. I have to thank all the people at Juventus, especially the Agnelli family who gave me the opportunity to work here. I feel a responsibility to repay everything they have given me.”

There is a lot of talk about racism in the world right now. It is no different in Italy, where Juventus is going the right way. Nedved revealed that the stadium has such a high quality camera system that allows anyone who commits racism to be punished. According to him, this is how every club should arrange itself.

Then when it came to the question of which stadiums Nedved considers the most beautiful, two immediately came to mind – Santiago Bernabeu and Old Trafford. He considers Real Madrid and Manchester United to be historic teams that have something extra. That’s why he enjoyed playing in their stadiums.

In his playing career, the Czech midfielder won the Ballon d’Or. It is now housed in the club’s museum. The reason? “It’s not my Golden Ball, it’s our Golden Ball. I wouldn’t have won it without my teammates. It has to be there for the players to see. It gives them the feeling that they can also win it if they are at Juventus.”

The Bianconeri vice-president was then asked to describe the current situation at the club. He thinks that Juventus needs time, although the Turin side still has the highest ambitions. “We are investing in young players, the future belongs to Juventus,” believes the Czech legend.

At the end of the interview, he briefly talked about financial fair play: “ FFP doesn’t work. I hope UEFA has noticed. The right idea of football is to spend the money you earn, not to spend more than you have.”
