Nedved as a white horse? Juventus vice-president allegedly signed dubious contracts
Pavel Nedved is not having a nice time. Juventus has recently been targeted by the police, as the Italian club had deliberately manipulated the value of its footballers. And the vice-president and 2003 Ballon d’Or winner is the first to be hit.
Pavel Nedved is not having a nice time. Juventus has recently been targeted by the police, as the Italian club had deliberately manipulated the value of its footballers. And the vice-president and 2003 Ballon d’Or winner is the first to be hit.
You may have noticed in the last week that the police have been on a rampage at the Juventus offices. The Turin club is facing the threat of being stripped of its 2020 title or even relegated to Serie B.
The case is slowly unraveling in Italy, but it doesn’t look good for Pavel Nedved. The Italian media is talking about Nedved being set up as a white horse by Juventus.
And what exactly is Juventus guilty of? According to the Italian authorities, the Old Lady manipulated the value of the footballers to improve its capital and thus the stock market value. But such actions are illegal.
The most glaring is last year’s swap with Barcelona. Juventus sent Miralem Pjanic to Catalonia, Barcelona sent Arthur Mel to Turin. Both players came for 30 million euros, but Juventus priced both players at double that. Thanks to this, the club’s capital rose by hundreds of millions of crowns.
And according to the police investigation, Juventus should have done this several times. And this is precisely the problem for Pavel Nedved, whose signature as vice-president appears under all transfers and invoices. Logically, the former footballer only dealt with the sporting part of the transfers, which is not what the law asks for anyway.
Italian media reports that Juventus may have put Nedved in the position of white horse because of his lack of economic education. Only the final police investigation will determine whether this is actually true or not.
