The NBA has traditionally announced the best players for the month of January. Devin Booker of Phoenix dominated the Western Conference. In the East, Cleveland’s Donoval Mitchell was the best. The best rookie in the Western Conference was Victor Wembanyama of San Antonio and in the Eastern Conference Brandon Miller of Charlotte.

In the Western Conference, Booker

Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns was voted the best player in the Western Conference over the past month. He contributed heavily to 11 game-winners out of 16 games played.

In doing so, he maintained a great shooting average of 30 points per game. He also averaged 4.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game. In addition, he also possessed a high shooting success rate from the field, which he kept at almost 54 percent.

In his 9th season in the NBA, he has the best shooting average of his career so far. With an average of 28.2 points per game, he ranks among the top six scorers of the current season. This is the third time in his career that he has won the Player of the Month award. The fact that he broke the 50-point mark once last month and even the 60-point mark once last month has helped him significantly.

The best Mitchell in the Eastern Conference

Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers was voted the best player for the month of January in the Eastern Conference. He also contributed to 11 of his team’s winning duels out of 13 games played. In those games, he averaged 28.6 points per game. He also had 5.2 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game.

This is only the second time in his career that Mitchell has won this award. The last time he won it was in December 2021. In his 7th season in the NBA with an average of 28, points per game, he is attacking his best season from last year when he had a shooting average a tenth higher. He had two 45 point games in January.

Rookies of the month Wembanyama and Miller

Victor Wembanyama was voted Rookie of the Month for the first time in his career. He reigned supreme in the Western Conference. He averaged a great 24 points per game, 9.6 rebounds and most importantly 3.4 blocks per game. But he’s not having a great time with the San Antonio Spurs.

He’s going from defeat to defeat. But one of the main contenders for the rookie of the year award is averaging a season-high 20 points per game, and with 3.1 blocks per game, the rookie is the best in the league!

Still, his main challenger is Chet Holmgren, he took the rookie of the month award the previous two months and unlike Wembanyama, Oklahoma is doing very well.

Newcomer Brandon Miller, on the other hand, was the top rookie in the Eastern Conference. However, he is playing with a Charlotte Hornets team similar to Wembanyama. Still, he’s averaging a great 16.4 points per game, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He has already managed to break the 20-point mark seven times in January.
