In League A, France closed their unsuccessful journey through the group with a 0:2 loss in Denmark, while Croatia secured first place and a play-off spot with a 3:1 win in Austria. France finish third, with the Austrians last by one point.
The Dutch also made it into the top four with a 1-0 home win over Belgium. Wales lost 0-1 at home to the Poles in the all-round match and are quickly returning to the second performance group after their promotion to the elite.
In League C, Turkey, already surely promoted, lost ignominiously to the Faroe Islands 1:2. In a match played in parallel, Lithuania fell 0:1 to Luxembourg and finished dead last with seven points.
The Slovaks ended their shameful run in League C with a draw. In front of their home fans, they only drew with Belarus, who were already assured of relegation. Ex-Belarusian Adam Zrelak equalised in the 65th minute.
In the end, Slovakia finished third in the company of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Belarus, three points behind Azerbaijan and six behind Kazakhstan, who will be looking at League B for the first time. Even a 0-3 loss in the last round did not change that.
In League D, the Latvians secured promotion. A 1:1 away draw with Andorra was enough for them, Moldova had the same points after a 2:0 home win over Liechtenstein, but the score was in Latvia’s favour. Liechtenstein finished last.
