The Czech national football team has two games against Faroe Islands and Montenegro in June. Jaroslav Šilhavý nominated 25 players, some of whom will be withdrawn after the first match.
The Czech national team will play a European Championship qualifying match against Faroe Islands on 17 June, three days later they will play a friendly match against Montenegro.
Jaroslav Šilhavý called up one newcomer – Jan Matoušek from Bohemians. He also nominated the brother duo Michal and Lukáš Sadílek. The brothers last played together in the Czech national team in 2011 – Roman and Michal Hubník.
The nomination this time included 25 players. In goal, the regular pair of Tomáš Vaclík and Jiří Pavlenka, joined by Tomáš Koubek, who started to play again in the Bundesliga. In defence, there is one returning player, Jakub Jugas returned to the national team after a long time.
“We have been watching Jakub Jugas’ performance in Poland for a long time. He was already among the substitutes in March and now we decided to give him the chance he deserves. As far as Jan Matoušek is concerned, he is a speed type of player who fits our game. In the season, like other Bohemians players, he has performed well,” explained Šilhavý.
Slavia has the biggest representation in the squad with seven players. Namely, David Douděra, Tomáš Holeš, David Jurásek, Ondřej Lingr, Lukáš Provod, Mojmír Chytil and Václav Jurečka.
Spartans have four players on the team, Ladislav Krejci, Jaroslav Zelený, Lukáš Sadílek and Jan Kuchta. There are more players in the nomination this time due to the fact that 6 players will be withdrawn from the team after the qualification match with Faroe Islands.
Vladimír Coufal, Tomáš Holeš, David Jurásek, Václav Jurečka, Ladislav Krejčí and Jan Kuchta will be given time off.
“They have had an extremely difficult season. Since we have to prepare in Montenegro and we want to give a chance to other players, we decided to accommodate both the players themselves and their clubs. The agreement with Sparta and Slavia was absolutely smooth in this respect.
Hopefully this small detail will help Sparta and Slavia to be well prepared for the new season. It is alsoin the interest of the national team and the whole of Czech football that they are successful in the European Cups,” explained national team manager Tomáš Pešír.
