Nasser Al-Khelaifi has hit out at Neymar in the media, who he says is considering leaving. What is it this time?
We’ve come to think of the word Neymar as no longer being associated with football alone. The once clear Golden Ball aspirant is now more likely to follow the path of celebrity and business, which is of course greatly aided by the media. But there is no doubt that the Brazilian striker has been on his way out of Paris on several occasions, and now it is once again a time of speculation over his future.

Nasser Al-Khelaifi has leaned into Neymar and co.
The PSG owner is not one to dismiss failure and the long wait for a Champions League title is very deep in his stomach. Yet he is a man who should set an example and stand behind his team, only he certainly failed to do so in his latest interview with Le Parisien!
“Neymar’s potential departure this summer? What I can tell you is that we expect a lot more from all players than last season,” Al-Khelaifi was quoted as saying.
In doing so, the Qatari businessman forgets one important thing, sporting success is still not something anyone can buy, at least not in the Champions League. And that Manchester City and PSG are trying really hard to do it!
The Parisian team was sovereign in the last league season, but they were knocked out of the Coupe de France in the eighth round against Nice and were also knocked out of the Champions League in the eighth round by the later winner of the whole season, Real Madrid, who always fought until the very end and, although they were not the better team in many cases, they managed to beat the others.
Neymar’s options
According to the French media, Neymar was not at all happy with his statement to the media and demanded an explanation. No wonder, therefore, that debates about his departure immediately flared up. However, as mentioned above, the situation surrounding the Brazilian striker has long been less about sport and more about business and offering people a good laugh.
RMC journalist Loïc Tanzi has also offered three possibilities of where Neymar could head from PSG. Specifically, Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea.
However, Manchester United only comes into consideration if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves, which certainly makes sense. The Red Devils have long been known for prioritising marketing over sporting success. However, the big changes that have taken place this year, and actually started at the end of last year, promised fans a return to the title…
Chelsea, for a change, has a large sum of money that it is going to continue to invest. So Neymar could be an interesting acquisition for a new era under new ownership.
Another suitor that comes into consideration is Newcastle, who have financial capabilities that far exceed other teams. And if the management at St. James’ Park were to opt for Neymar, the only obstacle would be the absence of the Champions League and the fact that the world’s most expensive footballer undoubtedly wants to prove himself at the upcoming World Cup, which could make his situation difficult at Newcastle.
Last but not least, the new coach Christophe Galtier is sure to play a part. Well, this summer’s transfer window would have been interesting without Neymar, but we probably won’t get a break from that this year either.
