The highlight of Tuesday’s Champions League programme will be the Italian clash between Napoli and AC Milan. The visitors have a one-goal lead from the first leg, but the home team is the favourite. What to expect from the rematch and what to bet on?
Naples are not in the best of health at the moment. It has won only one of its four games since the March national break, yet it can go into Tuesday’s Champions League with a clear head. They have a 14-point lead at the top of Serie A with eight rounds to go.
Moreover, AC’s form is even worse. Ironically, it has won only two of its last eight games against Napoli. They are in fourth place in the table, but fifth-placed city rivals Inter are only two points behind.
Napoli’s key figures
The home side have relied heavily on Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the absence of the injured Victor Osimhen, with the Georgian winger scoring 14 goals and assisting 16. Mexican Hirving Lozano had four hits and an assist.
Key AC figures
The visitors are led by left back Theo Hernandez, the French international has split the net three times and assisted five times. Twenty-three-year-old Spanish offensive midfielder Brahim Diaz netted six goals and assisted on three.
What to expect and what to bet on?
AC’s offense has stopped working, scoring more than once in only one of their last eight games, twice coming up completely empty. At the same time, with 37 goals conceded, it has the worst defensive record in the TOP 9 of Serie A.
On the other hand, Napoli is an offensive machine. 66 goals scored is the most in the league, the second best Lazio scored 17 goals less. Anyway, without Osimhen, the offense is not nearly as good, it will be a big test on Tuesday.
Considering Napoli’s strength at home, the long-term form of its offense and AC’s woes in the end, I think the favorite will win the opening 90 minutes.
