Naples had a dream season, but immediately afterwards they had to start dealing with a big inconvenience. Coach Luciano Spalletti left the club and finding at least a worthy successor was not easy. Fans, however, are not entirely convinced that it has been done. The team will be led by Rudi Garcia.

Italy’s champion for the third time in history. After a successful season, Naples has to deal with problems in addition to celebrations. For one thing, there is a demand for the club’s biggest stars, but besides that, coach Luciano Spalletti, who was a major contributor to the giant success, has left.

Can we at least find a worthy replacement for the Italian strategist? On the face of it, nothing easy. There has been speculation about big names, but none will arrive at the shrine named after Diego Maradona.

Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann, Gian Piero Gasperini, Christophe Galtier si Vincenzo Italiano. That’s just a short list of the names that have been bandied about in connection with Naples. But finally, a rather controversial news came.

On Thursday evening, Napoli announced that Rudi Garcia will lead the team in the new season, the man who last coached Al-Nassr under Cristiano Ronaldo, but was sacked.

Garcia is said to have had a falling out with Ronaldo during his stint in Saudi Arabia. And it can’t be said that there were positive reviews for him. For example, former sporting director and Olympique Lyon legend Juninho called him the worst person he has ever encountered in football.

The French coach is said to want to be the centre of attention and only tries to instil fear in his charges. “He only respects people who have power and whom he can use,” Juninhosaid of him.

And his coaching record isn’t exactly the most impressive either. He won a title and a cup in France with Lille in 2011, but otherwise has not won any trophies, despite having managed teams such as Olympique Lyon, Olympique Marseille and AS Roma. This is also why fans are quite upset about his arrival.
