Rafael Nadal and Roland Garros, that’s something that goes together, which has now been confirmed. The King of Antuk has reached the final of the famous tournament once again, and that the world number one Novak Djokovic stood in his way? Not interested.
In the first round Djokovic took a shameful canard, which is definitely not something you see in a match between the two best players in the world! The second set ended 6:2, also clearly in Nadal’s favour. The third set was the most balanced, which the Spaniard won 7::5.
The match lasted less than three hours. Nadal thus went on to win another Grand Slam title. However, it should be noted that it was the 20th of his career, which means that he has equalled Roger Federer, who is the most successful tennis player of all time! For Nadal then, it was his 13th straight Roland Garros title, which is something incredible.
Roger Federer then proved after Nadal’s victory that he is a huge person! After all, his rivalry with Nadal has always been exemplary, with both of them always respecting each other and being very friendly, which was reflected in the Swiss’s congratulations he posted on social media.
“I’ve always respected Rafa tremendously as a friend and as a champion. I believe that being our biggest rivals for several years has motivated us to get better. So it is a great honour for me to congratulate him on winning his 20th Grand Slam title,” reads the text posted by Federer.
“It’s unbelievable that he won 13 of them at Roland Garros. It’s one of the greatest achievements in sport. Congratulations also to his team because no one can do this alone. I hope the 20th title is just another step in the journey of both of us. Well done, Rafa. You’ve earned it,” Federer ended his wonderful congratulations.
