Muradov fell for the second time in the UFC. Borralho beat him on points, but the former Octagon fighter has nothing to be ashamed of

At the very least, UFC 280 offered the interim tournament of the year by folding the fight cards. The fact that it was at a European-friendly time was made even more attractive by the fact that the gala also featured Makhmud Muradov, a former Octagon star. How did he do?

Makhmud Muradov appeared on the UFC 280 prelims card. His opponent was Caio Borralho. The bookmakers often favored the Brazilian, however, the Uzbek native wanted to prove that his first loss in the UFC last year did not break him.

It should be mentioned that Muradov had many different personal issues to deal with between fights. However, in this fight, it didn’t show. At least not in its opening.

It was expected that the former Octagon fighter would want to keep the fight standing while the Brazilian tried to end the fight on the ground, however Borralho showed that he can be dangerous even standing. Similarly, Muradov had to show that he was proficient on the ground.

Although Muradov was the one who was taken down in the first two rounds, he was able to reverse the position in both rounds and evened up the time control as a result. Moreover, like the Brazilian, he was not very active in the dominant position.

If anything played in Borralho’s favor, it was the submission attempts, of which there were several. If Muradov wanted to win, it would have been optimal not to rely on the judges and to stop the Brazilian in the third round. But that didn’t happen.

The Uzbek fighter with ties to the Czech Republic tried to take the fight to the ground and wanted to take it for himself, but the Brazilian made a great guillotine hold and Muradov had his work cut out for him. He did, but Borralho never allowed his opponent to reverse position and checked on the ground the entire round.

Muradov may have lost, but it was certainly no disgrace. Although the scorers decided the winner by unanimous decision.
