Muchova and Pliskova advance to the third round of the Australian Open! But they will face each other

Our tennis players face a rather unpleasant situation at the Australian Open. Out of nine, only three made it to the third round, and we will see only two more in the fourth round.

Petra Kvitova, Karolina Pliskova, Kristýna Pliskova, Markéta Vondroušová, Kateřina Siniaková, Barbora Strýcová, Karolína Muchová, Marie Bouzková and Barbora Krejčíková. These players have played at the Australian Open, nine of them.

But now we’re only in the third round and there are three left in the field. On Wednesday, Markéta Vondrousova advanced, and on Thursday, Karolina Muchová and Pliskova emulated her.

Muchová took on Mona Barthel and beat her in two sets 6::4 and 6::1, she didn’t even need an hour and a quarter to win.

Pliskova was almost similarly impressive against Danielle Rose Collins. However, she needed less than an hour and a half, during which she won the first set 7::5, the second 6::2.

However, it is unpleasant news for the fans that Muchova and Pliskova will face each other in the third round. Therefore, at most two of our representatives will make it to the fourth round.

Markéta Vondroušová will then play the winner of Petra Kvitová, Sorana Cirstea.
