Mourinho’s reaction to no longer being a top coach? What is a disaster for me is an amazing achievement for others

José Mourinho arrived in Rome a few days ago to begin his second Italian tour. The first one was extremely successful, but since then things have gone a bit downhill for the Portuguese coach. Nevertheless, he is certainly not lacking in confidence!
Mourinho used to win at least one major trophy every year. However, he hasn’t won any major trophy since the 2016/17 season, when he captured the Europa League and League Cup with Manchester United.
However, given that the Portuguese coach has burst into the footballing world in style, winning Europe’s most valuable trophies year after year and, quite rightly, also being voted the best coach of the season four times, he is a victim of his previous successes, as he himself said at a press conference in Rome.
“I won three trophies at Manchester United and after the end of my engagement it was called a disaster. I came to Tottenham at a difficult time and yet I led the club to a final that I was no longer afforded. What is a disaster for me is a wonderful achievement for others,” Mourinho is weighed down by a successful past that follows him every step of the way.
” What do you think about the fact that you are no longer considered the best coach?” Whereupon Mourinho promptly replied with the same quote, only changing the last sentence. But it’s my fault.”
Immediately upon arriving at his new club, Mourinho became emotional. But he will be judged at the end of the season, which AS Rome will enter very soon.
Last year, the team from the capital finished seventh, which qualified them for the Conference League. Moreover, it is very piquant that AS Roma will fight together with Tottenham in this newly created competition. This will be all the more motivating for the Portuguese coach.
However, as far as transfers and other changes at the club are concerned, Mourinho only said that he has met a few people so far and the work for him starts now, when he will meet the players and other members of the implementation team.
“Our first goal is to win the first game, once we do that we will set other goals. We have a lot of work to do, this team and this club has to improve every day. So we will start with the infrastructure in Trigoria,” Mourinho ended the interview.
Perhaps the question on everyone’s mind now is whether Mourinho can lift AS Roma and prove to everyone that he hasn’t forgotten how to coach and win. However, the traditional Italian outfit has gone downhill in recent years, with both Milan sides, on the other hand, returning to the limelight.
so the 58-year-old experienced coach should be a big boost. Moreover, Rome have several players he has already managed during his previous engagements in England, which could make his start all the easier.
