José Mourinho has the prospect of another European trophy ahead of him. After winning the Conference League with Roma last season, he is now bidding for the Europa League trophy. However, Sevilla stand in the way. Before the game, he spoke about the opponent and his future.

AS Roma are having a great season. In the league, it is not competing with the top Italian teams to compete for the title. However, they don’t have to worry about Europe. And it is in Europe that the club is making a great name for itself.

Before José Mourinho came to AS, the team from Rome played only twice in the final of European cups. In the two seasons under his management, it has already reached two finals. In the first one they managed to win the Conference League, now it’s the Europa League’s turn.

So the Portuguese has proved that he is still a great coach and that he definitely still has something to offer. It’s no wonder his name has started to be mentioned again with bigger clubs. Specifically, there has been speculation about PSG’s interest, for example.

So, before the Europa League final, he had to face questions about his future. And the answer? He is said to have zero contacts with other clubs. The only thing on his mind is the aforementioned final. That’s where the Europa League specialist awaits him. Sevilla.

“We’ve come a long way. We’ve played 14 games, we deserve to be here. We’ve worked for it. Sevilla’s dominance? History doesn’t play, the players do. They are the favourites because history says so. We respect that. It’s normal for them to play the final, for us it’s an extraordinary and historic event,” Mourinho let himself be heard at the press conference.

“My colleagues say that Sevilla not only have a great team, but two great teams because they have 25 top players. He has many options but he doesn’t know my guys. They don’t know my team. We have a different budget, we have players who were still playing in the B-team last year,” the Portuguese said.

Finally, Mourinho did not forgive himself for another dig at Tottenham, the only team he has not won a trophy with: “The difference between Rome and Tottenham? Rome gave me the chance to participate in the final, Tottenham did not.”
