AS Roma have made a perfect start to the new season. It managed to qualify for the Europa League group stage, but is also doing well in the league. In six competitive matches, they have not lost even once.

On Thursday, the Italian side CSKA Sofia saw the strength of the Italian team, which took a 5-1 defeat from the Eternal City.

Two goals were scored by captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has developed a special and unique relationship with new coach Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese himself constantly praises his charges, and now Pellegrini has done the same.

“Six wins? That’s just the beginning. Because this year is special in Rome. Since Mourinho arrived, there is an atmosphere here that I have never felt before at this club. We have to continue in this spirit,” Pellegrini let himself be heard.

The 25-year-old midfielder is only under contract at Roma until next summer, but Mourinho is clear about his future: “He is a player with great quality and great potential. He told me he will sign a new contract soon. He is our captain and he is very important for us.”

And would the Portuguese be thrilled with Thursday’s win? Not exactly. “We didn’t play well. We did some good things at times, but we have to be a better team. We didn’t play well. We didn’t play badly either, but we should have done better,” Mourinho said.
