Mourinho: Return to Real? Ancelotti is a great coach. I’m a Real fan and he should stay

Carlo Ancelotti and his future at Real Madrid is still unclear. There is constant speculation about a possible new coach, even the return of José Mourinho is being speculated. But he has denied his return to Madrid.

Carlo Ancelotti returned to Real Madrid in the summer of 2021 after six years and it was the best possible move Florentino Pérez could have made. The Italian strategist won both La Liga and the Champions League in his first year and, most importantly, helped shoot Vinícius and Rodrigue from talents to key players.

But last year wasn’t as successful, Real only won the Club World Cup and Copa del Rey and there was speculation if Ancelotti would quit. Moreover, he is constantly tempted by the Brazil national team, which would be a big challenge for him.

With his possible departure from the Santiago Bernabéu, possible replacements are constantly being born. The biggest favourite would probably be Xabi Alonso, who is doing great at Bayer Leverkusen. Alternatively, the role of Raúl, who is currently leading the club’s B-team, is not ruled out.

And more likely, the media is pushing for the return of José Mourinho as well. The Portuguese coach may be past his coaching zenith according to many, but he still enjoys great popularity among Real fans.

Ancelotti would be a fool to leave Real

“Would I return to Real to replace Ancelotti? Florentino is an extremely clever man. He already has a great coach, why think about another one? I’m a Madridista and I hope Ancelotti stays there. He is the perfect coach for Real,” Mourinho said in an interview with RAC1.

The Portuguese coach knows very well that Real Madrid are not leaving. That is why he would not advise Ancelotti to make this move, even when it comes to the Brazil national team.

“For me, only a fool could leave Real Madrid on his own when the club wants him. And that fool is me. The only one who decided to leave after 3 years, when I had a great relationship with the president and José Ángel Sánchez. I am sure Carlo will stay because he is the perfect coach for Real and Real is the perfect club for him,” Mourinho added.
