José Mourinho has another coaching stint ahead of him. After finishing at AS Roma, where he spent two and a half years, he is going to Turkey. According to the latest reports, the Portuguese strategist has agreed a two-year contract with Fenerbahce.

Coach Mourinho has already tried several European countries in the past. He has coached in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain and very soon he might expand his rich career with more.

It must be added, however, that the past season did not go well for Mourinho or the Roman club. AS management sacked the 76-year-old coach at the beginning of January and the team was taken over by club legend Daniele de Rossi.

He spent two and a half years on the Giallorossi bench, winning one trophy during that time, when he won the European Conference League with AS in the 2021/22 season.

Mourinho to Fenerbahce

Anyway, after a six-month break, Mourinho found another engagement. According to Fabrizio Romano, the famous Portuguese coach will take over Turkish Fenerbahce.

He has reportedly agreed on a two-year contract with the Istanbul club, specifically until the end of June 2026. The contract is said to include an option for a one-year extension. All that remains is to sign all the formal documents before Mourinho officially becomes the new AS coach.

This will be the first time in twenty years that the experienced strategist will coach a team that does not play in any of the elite five European competitions.

Mourinho did receive a few offers during that time. None of them, however, appealed to him enough to get the nod. He didn’t want to go to Saudi Arabia for sporting reasons. Then, while still in Rome, he received an offer from the Portuguese national team, which he turned down, saying he wanted to stay on the AS bench.
