Mourinho again minced no words: He’s injured again, I don’t understand! AS Roma coach criticises his player’s condition

AS Roma entered the Europa League group stage victorious, beating Sheriff Tiraspol 2-1. The Moldovan side scored one goal on their own, the other was scored by Romelu Lukaku. However, the negative news for the Romans is that Renato Sanches is injured again. And José Mourinho has no explanation for that.
Renato Sanches moved to Roma in mid-August this year, specifically from Paris as part of a loan deal that is due to expire at the end of June 2024.
However, he hasn’t played much in an AS Roma jersey so far. In the opening round of Serie A against Salernitana, he was on the pitch for only twenty-five minutes, but did not feature in the matches against Hellas Verona and AC Milan due to muscle problems.
Sanches only played one half in the fourth round of Serie A against Empoli. The reason was that José Mourinho didn’t want to overload him, lest the injury recur.
However, even the half-load and the subsequent three days of convalescence did not help. Sanches did see the field in the Europa League, but only for twenty-eight minutes before he was substituted due to another injury.
He was replaced on the pitch by Leandro Paredes. Understandably, it is the AS Rome coach who is not happy about Sanches’ condition. Mourinho has no explanation for it anymore.
It’s hard to understand, we’re tired of it
“Sanches is erratic, he is too often in danger (of an injury). It’s hard to understand. Bayern didn’t understand it, PSG didn’t understand it,” Mourinho said in a post-match interview with Sky Sport Italia, also quoted by Get Football News Italy.
“We are tired of understanding it. He’s a great player who needs to play. He played half-time in the last league game against Empoli. He then had three days to recover, now he was in great shape. But he just felt some pain,” explains Mourinho while wondering about the state of his ward’s health.
This is not the first time Mourinho has spoken publicly about Sanches and his problems. The Lisbon native thus continues his run of injuries from Lille, Bayern and PSG.
