Morocco wants to bring in the Real Madrid midfielder. But he wants to take advantage of his acquaintance with the Spanish coach

In Sunday’s match between Real Madrid and Real Sociedad, there was one special spectator at the Santiago Bernabéu. The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui. And with one goal in mind – to convince Brahim Díaz to represent Morocco.

Brahim Díaz hasn’t been given much space since his return to Real Madrid, and in the three games he has played, he has accumulated 19 minutes so far.

On the other hand, it must be said that he can make the most of every minute. Just like with Real Sociedad, when he only came on in the 87th minute, but he managed to create a penalty for Jud Bellingham.

And it is his offensive talent that Walid Regragui would like to develop… in the Moroccan national team. Díaz is a Spaniard originally from Málaga, but his father is Moroccan. And since the technical Spaniard has not yet played a competitive match for La Roja, he could represent the country from North Africa.

Brahim has been through the youth national teams, playing for the U17, U19 and U21. It was there that he did very well under Luis de la Fuente. And the coach, who likes to rely on young players, is currently with the Spanish national team.

Brahim belongs to the wider squad, but he has not yet received a nomination. And not even after last season, when he reached the semi-finals of the Champions League with AC Milan, which the Spanish footballer fired in the quarter-final against Spurs.

This is exactly what Morocco wants to take advantage of and get Brahim in their service. However, the 24-year-old offensive all-rounder believes that he will make a full impact at Real Madrid and make it to the Spanish national team, which is why he doesn’t want to close the door by going to Morocco.

“Of course we are interested in Brahim. Anyway, there are a lot of aspects in this case and they are not easy to solve,” Regragui said at the end of August when announcing the nomination.

So it will be interesting to see how the whole situation plays out. It is almost certain, however, that Díaz will not make the Winter African Championships, so he will not make a decision that quickly. If Spain wants to secure Brahim’s services and avoid him going to Morocco, all they need to do is nominate him and field him in a competitive match.
