Cristiano Ronaldo has made a big splash recently. In an interview with journalist Piers Morgan, he said many things and criticised everything that could be criticised. He was very specific and his words filled the media all over the world. Now Morgan himself has spoken.

It is not unusual for Cristiano Ronaldo to fill the headlines. However, often it is in a positive sense, whereas last week it was more or less the opposite. In fact, the Portuguese gave an interview in which he made several controversial statements.

Ronaldo was very critical of his current club Manchester United. Very specifically, he criticised Ralf Rangnick, mentioned his critics, including Wayne Rooney, and admitted that he does not respect coach Erik ten Hag.

But now the man the Portuguese interviewed has also spoken publicly. Journalist Piers Morgan has admitted that he spoke to Ronaldo at the end of last season, before ten Hag was engaged.

Even then, in their conversation, he criticised the entire club. Morgan even quoted Ronaldo. “Everything is terribly amateurish. No specific goal, no leadership, no organisation, just a desert of ideas. The future is bleak unless something changes quickly,” he recalled in The Times article.

The winner of five Ballon d’Ors, he said, could no longer ignore what was happening at the club. Morgan even asked him if he regretted his return to Old Trafford. The answer? “Maybe my heart spoke louder than my mind.”

Ronaldo must be hoping for a World Cup and that he can show that he is no longer a shadow of the player he used to be. After all, he is not doing well at Manchester United at the moment and is unlikely to play for them again.

Moreover, given his wage demands, not everyone can afford him. His signing will be extremely expensive and therefore impossible for the vast majority of clubs. However, the aforementioned interview may also affect his performance at the World Cup.

And not only Ronaldo’s performance. There are two other Manchester United players in the Portuguese national team along with him. However, according to Morgan, the Portuguese has no regrets about what he said in the recently published interview.
