If you’re interested in what Monaco fans have to say about their new Champions League opponent, read on. Read the article below to find out the comments of the Prince’s fans on the website of France’s most famous sports daily L’Equipe.
The comment that drew the most responses (and the most thumbs up) has a clear prophecy: “It’s not so obvious! To qualify, we’ll have to take them seriously!”
“Isn’t it so obvious? Did you think you could face a Luxembourg club?” one user jokingly responds.
“At the same time, if you don’t beat this team, you have no business in the Champions League,” another leaves no thread dry.
The comments also recall 1991. That’s when Sparta knocked out Olympique Marseille in the Champions League.
In their first match in Marseille, they lost 3:2 to the home team. But in the end, after a 2:1 home win, they advanced thanks to two goals on the opponent’s ground.
How Sparta will fare against the French team this time, we will find out on August 3 and 10. The first match will be played at Letná in Prague, the rematch at Stade Louis II a week later.
Leten could have an advantage, as it will be the first competitive match of the season for Monaco.
France then has two other representatives in the Champions League, champions Lille and second-placed PSG, but they will advance directly to the group stage.
