Moises Caicedo is hilarious. Will Chelsea or Manchester United get the highly-rated midfielder?
Moises Caicedo has been a much talked about name since December when there was talk of Arsenal’s strong interest. Now, however, the young midfielder has been offered a contract by Chelsea and now Manchester United, with negotiations between the two clubs regarding Mason Mount perhaps giving a hint as to the 21-year-old Colombian’s eventual fate.
To understand the current situation, we need to devote a few words to the English midfielder in the service of Chelsea, for whom Manchester United is interested, well, quite possibly stood.
In fact, according to The Daily Mail, the Blues have also rejected a third offer of £55 million, which seems to have definitively discouraged the Red Devils from buying Mount. According to a number of English experts, the 24-year-old midfielder is a quality player, but certainly not for the amount the London outfit is willing to let their player go for.
Manchester United have reportedly turned their attention even more to the south of England, specifically to Brighton, where Caicedo, who is 21 years old, is having an amazing season.
The English side finished in an excellent 6th place and a lot of the credit goes to the Colombian midfielder, who has only played in one league game against Arsenal this season.
Brighton, however, will probably demand at least £80 million for Caicedo, with everything firmly in their hands as the player has a contract with the club until 2027.
According to The Daily Mail, Brighton rejected Chelsea’s offer for Caicedo earlier this month, which was reportedly around £60 million. So now Manchester United are apparently on the move and will definitely have to increase the sum.
However, the promising Colombian is definitely a better investment than Mount as he offers great potential for the future, while the English midfielder would be more of an extension to the bench. That in itself speaks volumes as to why Manchester United don’t want to pay such a high amount for him.
Moreover, for Caicedo, the Red Devils could also offer one of the current squad, with the likes of Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek being offered, who would definitely be quality reinforcements for the depleted Brighton midfield, from which Alexis Mac Allister left earlier.
