When you say “Newcastle United”, many people immediately think of the blockbuster movie “The Mexican Wave”. The story of the fictional character Santiago Muñez is familiar to many football fans.
The talented Mexican is spotted while playing on a football pitch by an agent who has contacts at an English club. There, he is able to get him to undergo tests, which, after some complications, the player passes.
Eventually, he becomes a big star and makes it to Real Madrid, where he has played alongside David Beckham, for example.
A man with an almost identical name will now want to write a similar story. However, his name is not Santiago Muñez, but Santiago Muñoz, who is a new signing for the North of England team.
Unlike the film character, however, the 19-year-old goalscorer played professional football before coming to England. He played in the Mexican first league for Santos Laguna. He is on loan at Newcastle with an option.
He has played 19 games among adults so far with a record of 3 goals and 3 assists. He has a tough job ahead of him at Newcastle. But nothing is impossible. At the very least, he can try to emulate the great cinematic story. Can he do it?
