Although Mesut Özil is no longer an Arsenal player, he continues to follow the actions of his former employer. And the horrific start to the new season is breaking his heart so much that he briefly expressed himself on social media.
Three league games, three losses, a horrific 0:9 record and a fall to the bottom, or rather, depending on the results of the next games. This is Arsenal’s league start.
In the first round, Mikel Arteta’s charges couldn’t keep up with the newcomer, losing 2: 0 at Brentford. They lost to Chelsea at home by the same result. On Saturday, however, they were defeated 5-0 at Manchester City.
Arsenal fans have had enough. When their favourites Citizens scored their fourth goal of the game, they rejoiced along with the home fans. That’s how frustrated the supporters’ camp of the recently still feared team is.
And patience is also running out for one of the former players. Mesut Özil is one of the players Arteta has more or less walled off. When the former German international left Arsenal, he did not part on good terms with his former teammate at all.
According to his statements on social media, he did not work on his relationship with Arteta in any way. In fact, he wrote a short, concise and clear sentence with an ironic undertone: “Trust the process. ”
Arsenal’s current form is breaking Özil’s heart. But what did the fans write under his post? The reactions were varied. Some people still support Arteta, believing he has the potential to be a great coach. But there aren’t many of them.
Instead, several jokes or ironic posts have landed again, with Gunners fans poking fun at themselves. But aside from that, some people have criticised Özil, saying he is the last person who should be expressing himself.
However, many supporters realize that although Özil didn’t play that much under Arteta, he was still able to create chance after chance and be an asset to the team, whereas Aubameyang, for example, with the same wage, has virtually no contribution.
So the Arsenal fan camp is divided and it will be interesting to see how the traditional London club will recover from the great crisis.
