Mesut Özil currently plays for Fenerbahce in Turkey, where he transferred from Arsenal in January. Today, however, is his big day and everyone must admit that in his prime he was a brilliant footballer whose best season was still in a Real Madrid jersey.

But it was an incredible season for Özil, one that he certainly still remembers to this day. It’s a great shame that his performance went downhill so quickly after that, as technically the German midfielder was really top class and those are really beautiful to watch.

In the current season then, Mesut has already played 9 games in which he scored 3 goals and also notched up an assist. Thanks to him, Fenerbahce is leading the Turkish league by one point over Trabzonspor.
