A big uproar in recent days was caused by a statement by Lionel Messi’s brother, who strongly criticised Barcelona’s management. He also stated that the Argentine footballer will not return to Spain under any circumstances. But now he is taking back his words.
A few days ago, Messi’s brother Matias shared a video on social media where he is critical of Barcelona. Fans did not take this statement very well, so especially in Spain the video had a great response.
For example, Matias said that Barcelona should be more grateful for what Lionel Messi has done for them. According to his words, nobody knew the Catalan club before Messi’s engagement.
At the end of the video, the brother of the Argentine footballer also added that he finds speculations about Messi’s return to Barcelona laughable. He said that he and his family do not want to return to this city.
But Matias is now, rather surprisingly, taking back his words. As he stated on his Instagram, it was a mere joke. Some fans, however, do not want to accept his apology.
“I would like to apologize for what I said. I was just joking with my son and friends. How could I think such things about a big club like Barcelona? About a club that has given a lot to my family and Leo,” Matias said in an apologetic Instagram post.
He also refuted the words that he would not want to return to Barcelona with his family. “Catalonia is our second home. I am very sorry, especially to the Barcelona fans,” concluded Matias Messi.
According to the latest statement, the words were not meant seriously. But it was very bad timing considering that Messi’s return to Barcelona is indeed in the cards.
Barcelona would definitely be interested in their legend. Moreover, according to the latest information, Messi is not completely happy at PSG and so is considering leaving. The French club was even supposed to give him permission to transfer in the summer transfer window.
