On Monday evening, FIFA hosted a gala evening where it presented various awards. Robert Lewandowski was voted the best player and Erik Lamela scored the most beautiful goal. How did Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and the Polish sharpshooter vote in the all-important poll?
Although Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or, the award for the best footballer of the past year went to Robert Lewandowski, who came second in the Ballon d’Or at The Best FIFA Football Awards gala.
Shortly after the end of the gala, it was announced who had voted for whom. The last Ballon d’Or winner in particular surprised with his vote.
He placed his PSG teammates in the first two places, with Neymar taking the first place and Kylian Mbappé the second. Messi placed Real Madrid star Karim Benzema in third place.
The Argentine surprised the public with his choice of Neymar in particular. The Brazilian technician has not had the most successful year, especially his second half was not good at all.
Cristiano Ronaldo voted completely differently. The Portuguese legend placed the final winner Lewandowski in the first place, the other two positions, according to him, belong to Chelsea midfielders, i.e. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho.
Lewandowski then honoured Jorginho with the top spot, while immediately behind him he placed Messi and Ronaldo.
