The best footballer in history has an interesting and exciting summer ahead of him. His contract is up in Paris, where he has spent the last two seasons. He is not counting on signing a new one, yet the club used him to present the jerseys for the new season.
Lionel Messi otherwise has interesting offers. The beloved Barcelona is interested in him, and there is also interest from the United States and Saudi Arabia. The astronomical offer from Al-Hilal is much discussed, football romantics dream of his return to Catalonia.
After all, even in Barcelona they want their legend to return. Fans chant the Argentine’s name at matches, they chanted it during title celebrations. According to coach Xavi Hernández, everything is 99% on Messi.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has previously let it be known that he will do everything possible to make the big comeback happen. And now he seems to have found an interesting way. At least according to ESPN and French outlet L’Equipe.
Barcelona have reportedly begun negotiations with American outfit Inter Miami. The latter has made no secret of wanting Messi in its ranks. This is, by the way, a club owned by David Beckham.
So what is the plan? Messi would sign a free agent contract with Inter Miami and then head to Catalonia for an 18-month loan spell, from where he would then head to the MLS to finish his career.
For one thing, Messi would play at the top level until the 2024 Copa América tournament, plus it would help Barcelona financially. After all, finances are a big problem for Barcelona in its move in the transfer market.
Thus, a possible deal with Miami seems to be a win-win situation for all parties.
