Lionel Messi came to PSG for free, however his wages required some spending. And they are paying off for the French club in spades. In fact, the Parisian club has reported a 13% increase in commercial revenue since the arrival of the Argentine legend.

The Argentine star has struggled a bit in his first season in France. Although Lionel Messi did not play badly, he was still among the top five footballers in the world in terms of average rating by most statistical servers.

However, his numbers were definitely not what he was used to, and what the fans in particular were used to. This season, however, he intends to change that, and he has got off to a great start.

In 11 competitive games this season, Messi has scored 6 goals and added 8 assists. His teammate Neymar is also in form. It seems that an assault on the Champions League might not be a mere utopia now.

However, Messi is paying off for PSG not only on the pitch. It is estimated that last season the Argentine should have earned £25.5 million, or nearly £700 million. This season he is set to earn £34 million, nearly £378 million in crown terms.

However, PSG may not regret such a high wage. Indeed, it has grown commercially since Messi’s arrival.

According to the Daily Mirror, it has secured a 13% increase in revenue on the back of new deals with Dior, Gorillas, Crypto.com, PlayBetR, GOAT, Smart Good Thins, Volt, Big Cola, Sports Water and Autohero.

And what does that actually mean? PSG added €700 million to its coffers, or €17.2 billion. It’s worth noting that this figure does not include the sales of Messi’s jerseys, which would have increased the amount considerably.
