Lionel Messi did not finish Wednesday’s MLS match against Toronto FC when he had to make a substitution in the 37th minute. He was replaced on the pitch by Robert Taylor, while two minutes before him Jordi Alba also had to leave the field due to injury and was replaced by young Noah Allen.
In Messi’s case, it is a muscular injury and it is currently unconfirmed how long Inter Miami will miss him.
On September 25, Miami will face Orlando, but the more important match will be on September 28, when they face the Houston Dynamo in the US Open final.
The medical team is currently considering how serious Messi’s unspecified muscle injury is. Official information will come in the next few dozen hours.
Meanwhile, Messi has returned to Inter Miami’s starting lineup after missing one MLS match against Atlanta and also one match for the Argentine national team.
However, Inter did without both men and won 4-0. Facundo Farias opened the scoring before the end of the half, while Benjamin Cremaschi, only 18 years old, scored in the second half.
The substitute Taylor opened the net twice. Inter Miami is currently in thirteenth position in the Eastern Conference with thirty-one points.
