The end of Lionel Messi at Barcelona? The official announcement of the Catalan club’s parting with the Argentine legend has not only shocked the football world. On social media, for example, even clubs from the NHL are reacting to this topic.

It’s official. Lionel Messi is quitting Barcelona. Both sides wanted to reach an agreement, but the club can’t afford it.

And while the football websites and media are discussing where one of the best footballers in history will be based from the new season, the webmasters of the NHL clubs are quite clear.

If Barcelona fans have no choice but to mourn the departure of a legend, hockey fans are in for a treat. The Pittsburgh Penguins’ account opened with a simple question. What about Messi and hockey?

And there were a number of different reactions to that. The first to speak up was the Columbus Blue Jackets organization. “Maybe he would feel more comfortable in these colors,” the response read, accompanied by a photo of Messi wearing a jersey in Columbus colors.

Columbus wasn’t the end of it, though. The Florida Panthers’ account also joined the discussion, followed by the NHL rookie Seattle Krakens.

So, while the football world mourns the end of a great era, the hockey world can only enjoy the thought of how Messi would have fared on skates with the puck.
